Name:
Fossil Seed
Age: Pennsylvanian
Formation: Llewellyn Formation
Location: St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size: Seed is 1.3 inches long
Here is a very unusual find. It is a large seed fern seed pod from Pennsylvania. This may be Trigonocarpus or it may be another type of seed. This specimen was found by Steve Hess at least 10 years ago. It is quite large and well preserved on the matrix plate that also contains some assorted seed fern fossils on both sides. The white fossils contrast beautifully with the black shale. This is a highly collectible fossil seed from the Coal Age.
