Uncommon Maple Leaf With All Five Lobes
Stock Number  FPUAC10

Name:   Acer lesquereuxi (Maple)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 3.6" long & 3.4" wide

Here is a very fine specimen of Acer lesquereuxi, a fossil maple. This fossil leaf is from the Green River Formation of Utah. Maple leaves are very uncommon from this location. This leaf displays beautifully - all five lobes of the leaf are present and the venation of the leaf is easily seen. Even the thick petoiole is intact and well preserved. The fossil leaf has nice color and contrast and is well centered on the squared plate of shale. This is a very good example of an unusual maple leaf from the Eocene.
