Here is an extremely interesting specimen. This plate is from the Devonian of Pennsylvania. Some authorities think that this is primitive, unidentified plant material. It may be bark or it may be foliage. Either way, it is unusual, being from the Upper Devonian Period. This is an enigmatic piece of the Earth's history.
