Strange Triassic Plant From Tasmania
Stock Number  FPAU01

Name:   Dicrodium odontopteroides
Age:  Triassic
Formation:  Stanhope Coal Mine
Location:  Avoca, Tasmania, Australia
Size:  Leaf is 2.75 inches long

Here is a very unusual fossil plant. This is Dicrodium odontopteroides from the Triassic of Tasmania. This ''fern-like'' leaf is well preserved as a carbonaceous film. The black coloration of the plant contrasts wonderfully with the gray matrix. The fossil plant is well presented on the natural plate of shale. This is an outstanding example of this strange plant from an exotic location.
