Large Annularia From Mazon Creek
Stock Number  FPFMC21

Name:   Annularia sp.
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Carbondale Formation
Location:  Braidwood, Illinois
Size:  Concretion is 2.8" X 3.1"

Here is a very nice, large specimen of Annularia sp. from the famous Mazon Creek area of Illinois. Annularia represent the leaf whorls found at the nodes of the extinct Calamites plant. This fossil plant is wonderfully preserved in a siderite concretion. Both halves of the concretion are present, so both part and counterpart of the fossil are intact. Two wide whorls of long, linear leaves are beautifully displayed. The fossil plant has great color and contrast. This is an excellent example of Annularia from this renowned site.
