Outstanding Fossil Seed Fern From Missouri
Stock Number  FPFMI16

Name:   Fossil Seed Fern
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Braidwood Formation
Location:  Johnson County, Missouri
Size:  Concretion is 3.7 inches long

Here is an excellent fossil seed fern from the Pennsylvanian of Missouri. This plant is well preserved in a concretion. Both halves of the concretion are present, so both part and counterpart of the plant are intact. This long seed fern exhibits superb detail - even the venation of the individual leaflets is clearly defined. The dark brown fossil contrasts beautifully with the orangish matrix. This is a great example of a fossil seed fern from the Coal Age.
