Excellent Sycamore Leaf With Long Petiole
Stock Number  FPCOL11

Name:   Platanus wyomingensis (Sycamore)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Douglas Pass, Colorado
Size:  Leaf is a little over 3" long with petiole

Here is an extremely attractive fossil leaf. This is Platanus wyomingensis (Sycamore) from the Eocene of Colorado. This leaf is totally natural - no color or paint has been added. This leaf has all five lobes unusually intact and beautifully displayed. The coarsely serrated margins are clearly defined and the strong, primary venation is easily seen. The long, complete petiole is still tightly attached. The dark brown leaf contrasts nicely with the khaki-colored matrix. It is almost perfectly centered on the squared plate of shale that also contains a large, partial Allophylus leaf on the reverse side. This is an excellent fossil Sycamore leaf from Colorado.
