EXTINCTIONS CHOICE - Two-Sided Fossil Fern Plate
Stock Number  FPFPAX31
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Two-Sided Fossil Fern Plate
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Llewellyn Formation
Location:  Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size:  Plate is 11.4" x 10.8"

his is a very large plate of plant fossils from the now-closed location at St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The long, distinct fossil fronds are preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale. The detail of the fossils is quite nice, and the plants are well showcased on the large plate of shale. There are at lease two different types of ferns preserved on the plate. And there are also many ferns fossilized on the back side of the slab. This is a very fine display example of a large, two-sided plate of fossil fern fronds from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania.
