Name:
Fossil Seed Fern Plate
Age: Pennsylvanian
Formation: Llewellyn Formation
Location: Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size: PLate is almost 14 inches across!
This is a nice, large plate of plant fossils from the now-closed location at St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The distinct fossils are preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale. The detail of the fossils is very nice, and the MANY plants are well showcased on the large plate of shale (over a foot across!). There are many different sized fronds on the plate, which is quite cool. This is a very fine display slab of white fossil fern fronds from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania.
