EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   White Fossil Seed Fern Fronds
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Llewellyn Formation
Location:  Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania

This is a very detailed plant fossil. It is a large plate of striking fossil fern fronds from Pennsylvania. The ferns on this specimen are replaced with the mineral Pyrophyllite, which gives the fossils their stunning white color. The distinct fern fronds have great color and detail preserved, which contrast beautifully with the black matrix plate. The ferns are nicely scattered all over the plate. This is a very nice grouping of fossil fern fronds preserved on a large display plate.
