Name:
Fossil Seed Fern Fronds
Age: Pennsylvanian
Formation: Llewellyn Formation
Location: Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size: Plate is almost 14 inches across!
This is a very nice assortment of plants from the classic location at St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The fossils are preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale. This specimen exhibits beautiful natural white coloration, and the detail of the fossils is also quite nice. The plants are well displayed on the large, natural plate of shale. This is a very displayable example of a large plate (over a foot across!) of fossil plants from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania.
