Age: Pennsylvanian
Formation: Llewellyn Formation
Location: Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size: Plate is 19.6 inches across!
This is a very large plate of plant fossils from the now-closed location at St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The distinct fossils are preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale. The detail of the fossils is extremely nice, and the MANY plants are nicely showcased on the large plate of shale. There are different types of ferns preserved, and many different sized fronds on the plates. This is a very fine display slab of white fossil fern fronds from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania.
