Very Detailed Fossil Stigmaria Root from Pennsylvania
Stock Number  FPFPA799
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Stigmaria Root
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Llewellyn Formation
Location:  Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size:  Root is 5.5 inches long

This is a very unusual plant fossil. It is a large fossilized tree root (Stigmaria) from Iowa. This specimen was found years ago and was in a collection until now. The root is extremely three-dimensional and is so detailed, it still retains the small rootlet attachment points! This is great example of an uncommon tree fossil from the Coal Age of Pennsylvania.
