Striking Annularia and Fern Frond from a Lost Locality
Stock Number  FPFPA798
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Annularia and Fern Frond
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Location:  Coal Valley, Schuylkill Co., PA
Size:  Each plate is about 4.4 inches across

These are very detailed plant fossils. It is a striking Annularia branch and a detailed fossil fern frond from Pennsylvania. These specimens were collected in the 1970's by one collector, who then died with the locality info and the only lot of this material ever found in his collection. Many collectors have tried to rediscover this locality, but to no avail. The reason this material is coveted by collectors is the color/contrast of the fossils, and the completeness of the fronds. At most sites, the ferns are not very distinct - but as you see here, both of these plates are well preserved. The fossils have great detail and contrast beautifully with the darker matrix plate. This is a very collectible pair of plant fossils from the lost site at "Coal Valley, Schuylkill Co., PA".
