Large Multiple Fossil Fern Plate from Pennsylvania
Stock Number  FPFPA796
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Multiple Fossil Fern Plate
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Llewellyn Formation
Location:  Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size:  Plate is 12.5 inches across!

This is a distinct plant fossil. It is a striking plate of fossil fern fronds from Pennsylvania. This large specimen (over a FOOT ACROSS!) is replaced with the mineral Pyrophyllite, which gives the fossils their white color. The large ferns have great detail preserved and contrast well with the black matrix plate. The many, MANY fronds are easily seen on the large display plate. This is a very cool grouping of classic fossil plants from the Coal Age.
