EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Fossil Fern Plate
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Llewellyn Formation
Location:  Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size:  Plate is 11.5 inches across

This is a beautiful plant fossil. It is a striking plate of fossil fern fronds from Pennsylvania. This large specimen is replaced with the mineral Pyrophyllite, which gives the fossils their stunning white color. The distinct ferns have great detail and contrast beautifully with the black matrix plate. The many, MANY fronds are easily seen on the large display plate. This is a very cool grouping of classic fossil plants from the Coal Age.
