Textbook Bug-Eaten Sycamore Leaf from Utah
Stock Number  FPUPW710
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 2.6 inches tall

This is a very fine specimen of a Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf). This leaf is from the Green River Formation of Utah. All five lobes of the leaf are present and easily seen. The leaf still retains a portion of the petiole (stem). Two distinct spots of the leaf have been chewed on by a bug prior to fossilization - bug-eaten leaves are quite collectible. The brown fossil contrasts nicely with the light-colored matrix. The leaf is well centered on the square matrix block. This is a textbook specimen of an unusual bug-eaten leaf from the Eocene.
