This is a very nice plant fossil. It is a large plate of fossil fern fronds from Pennsylvania. This distinct specimen is naturally replaced with the mineral Pyrophyllite, which gives the fossil its white color. There are many fronds preserved on the plate, some are quite large. The seed fern fronds have very good detail and contrast well with the natural, black matrix slab. And the back side is almost as nice as the front! This is a very cool grouping of fossil fern fronds from the Coal Age.
