Fossil Seed Fern Fronds
Age: Pennsylvanian
Formation: Llewellyn Formation
Location: Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size: Plate is almost 10 inches tall
This is a very nice grouping of plants from the classic location at St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The fossils are preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale. This specimen exhibits some beautiful natural orange coloration as well. The detail of the fossils is quite nice. The plants are nicely displayed on the large, natural plate of shale. This is a very cool example of a large plate of fossil plants from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania.
