Stock Number  FPFMO717
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Fern Frond
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Braidwood Formation
Location:  Johnson County, Missouri
Size:  Frond is 6.8 inches long!

This is an incredible plant fossil. It is a LONG fossil Fern Frond from Johnson County, Missouri. This specimen is from the same locality as the fern concretions, but it it is on shale which is extremely unusual. The fern frond displays very nice detail and striking dark brown coloration. The impressive fern is beautifully showcased on the unbroken plate of shale. And the frond is almost SEVEN inches long - this is easily THE longest fern frond we have ever seen from this locality! This is a very collectible plant fossil from this Mazon Creek-like locality.
