EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Araucaria mirabilis Cone
Age:  Jurassic
Formation:  Petrified Forest
Location:  Cerro Cuadrado, Patagonia, Argentina
Size:  Cone is 2.7 inches long

This is a very nice fossil cone. It is a fine specimen of Araucaria mirabilis from the Jurassic of Argentina. This fossil cone is quite large and totally inflated. The cone exhibits exquisite detail. The attachment point is intact (hard to see in photo), and the individual cone scales are very distinct and beautifully displayed. The back side of the cone is slightly weathered, but displays well. This is a very affordable whole Araucaria cone from South America.

Note: Argentina has now banned the export of all fossils. We will strictly abide by and enforce this law - we will not acquire new fossils from Argentina. However, this fossil was collected and exported prior to this law, and can be sold legally.
