Rare Lepidodendron Bark Piece from Pennsylvania
Stock Number  FPBARK702
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Lepidodendron Bark
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Llewellyn Formation
Location:  Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size:  Plate is 6 inches across

This is a very unusual plant fossil. It is a large plate of Lepidodendron Bark from the famous closed site near St. Clair, Pennsylvania. This site usually produces world-class white fern fossils - Lepidodendron bark is quite rare from here. The classic diamond-shaped leaf scar pattern is wonderfully intact (better than the photo shows). Each ''diamond'' represents the point of attachment of a fallen leaf.  This is a very collectible plant fossil from the Coal Age of Pennsylvania.
