Stock Number  FPMON702
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Sphenopteris sp.
Age:  Paleocene
Formation:  Fort Union Formation
Location:  Glendive, Montana
Size:  Plate is 4.1 inches tall

Here is an extremely interesting plate of Paleocene Age plants. These distinct leaves are from the Fort Union Formation of Montana. There are very nice Sphenopteris "lace ferns" on the slab. The fronds exhibit excellent detail. The slender stems are easily seen, and the unique, individual leaves are clearly defined. The strange fossil plants have a distinct, dark coloration and contrast wonderfully with the light brown shale. This is a very collectible specimen of these unique fossil plants from Montana.
