Formation: Llewellyn Formation
Location: Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size: Plate is about 13.5 by 8.5 inches
This is a large, displayable fossil seed fern plate from the classic location at St. Clair, Pennsylvania. There are many fronds fossilized on the plate - the slab is just covered with fossils! The seed ferns are preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale, and this particular specimen also contains some interesting yellow and orange tones. The fossils have great detail preserved and are naturally clustered on the large plate. This is a very cool multiple slab of Coal-Age plants from this classic site.
