Striking Multiple Fossil Fern Plate from Pennsylvania
Stock Number  FPFPAX26
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Fossil Seed Fern Plate
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Llewellyn Formation
Location:  Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size:  Plate is about 8 inches long

This is a colorful plant fossil. It is a striking plate of fossil fern fronds from Pennsylvania. This specimen is replaced with the mineral Pyrophyllite, which gives the fossil its stunning white-orange color. The distinct ferns have great detail and contrast beautifully with the black matrix plate. The fronds are easily seen on the plate, which is quite aesthetic. This is a very affordable grouping of displayable fossil plants from the Coal Age.
