This is a very large, displayable fossil. It is a beautiful fossil seed fern plate from the famous location near St. Clair, Pennsylvania. There are many, MANY nice fronds on the large plate. The seed ferns are preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale - fully natural! The distinct ferns are very nice individual fronds, not jumbled masses. This is a very nice grouping of Coal-Age plants from this classic site in Pennsylvania.
