Name:
Fossil Fern Fronds
Age: Pennsylvanian
Formation: Llewellyn Formation
Location: Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size: Plate is 6.8 inches tall
This is a very nice fossil fern frond from the classic location near St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The fossil is preserved as a natural, thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale. The detail of this fossil is quite nice, and the plant is beautifully displayed on the large, natural plate. There are also many more fern fronds preserved on the back side of the plate. This is a very cool example of large, colorful fossil fern fronds from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania.
