Large Poplar Leaf on Plate with Balloon Vine Leaf
Stock Number  FPUXX703
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Populus wilmattae (Poplar Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Poplar leaf is 4.2 inches long

This is a very distinct fossil leaf. It is a large leaf of Populus wilmattae, a Poplar, from the Green River Formation of Utah. This somewhat heart-shaped leaf has great detail preserved - the fine venation of the leaf is quite distinct and easily seen. The long petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The fossil has excellent, natural color and contrast and is well showcased on the large plate of matrix that also contains a cool Cardiospermum coloradensis (Balloon Vine) leaf at the top. This is a very displayable specimen of Poplar and Balloon Vine leaves from Utah.
