Very Rare Fossil Fern Branch from Pennsylvania
Stock Number  FPFPA742
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Fossil Fern Branch
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Llewellyn Formation
Location:  Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size:  Plate is 15.6 inches across

This is a very unusual plant fossil. It is a striking plate of fossil fern fronds from Pennsylvania. This specimen is replaced with the mineral Pyrophyllite, which gives the fossil its stunning white color. The plant on the left side of the plate is a large fern branch with many fronds intact. There is even a nice, long fromd on the right side of the plate. This is a very uncommon grouping of fossil ferns from the Coal Age.
