This is a spectacular fossil fern frond from the now-closed location near St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The fossil is preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale. The detail of this fossil is quite nice, and the plant is beautifully displayed on the large plate of shale. And the frond is almost SEVEN inches long - wow!This is a very collectible example of a large, colorful fossil fern frond from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania.
