Striking Multiple Fossil Fern Plate from Pennsylvania
Stock Number  FPFPA720
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Fossil Fern Plate
Age:  Pennsylvanian
Formation:  Llewellyn Formation
Location:  Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size:  Plate is 9.8 inches long

This is a beautiful plant fossil. It is a striking plate of fossil fern fronds from Pennsylvania. This specimen is replaced with the mineral Pyrophyllite, which gives the fossil its stunning white color. The ferns have great detail and contrast beautifully with the black matrix plate. Many long fronds are easily seen on the plate, which is quite interesting. And there is even a nice plant "hash" on the back side of the plate. This is a very cool grouping of displayable fossil plants from the Coal Age.
