Name:
Large Fossil Fern Frond
Age: Pennsylvanian
Formation: Llewellyn Formation
Location: Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size: Frond is over 5 inches long
This is a wonderful fossil plant from the now-closed location near St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The fossil fern frond is preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale. The detail of this fossil is quite nice, and the frond is quite large - over five inches long! And there is also a frond on the back side of the plate! This is a very collectible example of a large fossil fern frond from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania
