This is an extremely rare fossil cone. It is a gorgeous specimen of a Pine Cone from the Eocene of Germany. This fossil cone is a TRUE PINE CONE, not a more common Auracaria cone! The cone is quite complete and fully inflated - the tip actually sticks up out of the rock! The cone exhibits exquisite detail. The petiole is intact, and the individual cone scales are very distinct and beautifully displayed. The concretion is quite dense and is very heavy. This is fabulous example of a true Pine Cone from Germany - an extremely collectible plant fossil.
