Name:
Fossil Seed Fern Plate
Age: Pennsylvanian
Formation: Llewellyn Formation
Location: Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size: Plate is over 22 inches tall
This is a HUGE plate of plant fossils from the now-closed location at St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The fern fossils are preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale. The detail of the fossils is quite nice, and the plants are nicely showcased and aesthetically spaced on the large plate of shale (almost two feet tall!). There are also a few plant fossils preserved on the back side of the plate. This is a huge display plate of classic white fossil fern fronds from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania.
