This is a very nice specimen of Salix cockerelli, a Willow Leaf, from the Eocene of Utah. This long, lanceolate leaf exhibits very fine detail. The central venation is nicely displayed, and the short petiole (stem) is still tightly attached to the leaf. The specimen has excellent, natural color and contrast and is well showcased on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a very displayable example of a fossil Willow leaf from the Green River Formation.
