Large, Detailed Sycamore Leaf from Utah
Stock Number  FPUPW83
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is almost 5 inches tall

Here is a very nice fossil leaf. This is Macginitiea wyomingensis, a Sycamore, from the Green River Formation of Utah. All five lobes of the leaf are easily seen - the very tip of each and every lobe is present, which is quite unusual. The slightly serrrated margins are exhibited in wonderful fashion, the venation of the leaf is quite distinct, and a LONG petiole is still tightly attached to the leaf. The naturally brown leaf contrasts beautifully with the khaki-colored matrix. The fossil is well showcased on the squared plate of shale. This is a very fine example of a large, complete Sycamore leaf from the Green River Formation.
