Location: Bonanza, Utah
Size: Fruiting body is 0.6 inches across
Here is a very nice example of a fruiting body from Platanus wyomingensis, a sycamore. This specimen is from the Green River Formation of Utah. This "sycamore ball" exhibits fine detail. The dark colored fossil contrasts nicely with the grayish-tan matrix. It is nicely positioned on the natural plate of shale. This is a wonderful specimen of a fruiting body from the sycamore tree.
