Size: Leaf is 3.7 inches long including petiole
Here is an excellent specimen of an unidentified leaf (possibly a HUGE Populus cinnamomoides leaf). This distinct leaf is from the Eocene of Utah. This lance-shaped leaf exhibits very fine detail. The slightly dentate margins are easily seen, and the venation of the leaf is beautifully defined. The long petiole is still attached to the leaf. The fossil has outstanding color and contrast and is very nicely showcased on the large plate of matrix. This is a fabulous specimen of a large, unidentified leaf from the Green River Formation.
