EXTINCTIONS CHOICE - Very Large Sycamore Leaf
Stock Number  FPUPW813
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 7 inches long!

Here is a very large fossil leaf. This is Macginitiea wyomingensis, a Sycamore, from the Green River Formation of Utah. All five lobes of the leaf are easily seen, and the slightly serrrated margins are exhibited in wonderful fashion. The venation of the leaf is quite distinct, and a long petiole is still tightly attached to the leaf. The brown leaf contrasts beautifully with the khaki-colored matrix. The large fossil (SEVEN inches long!) is well showcased on the large, squared plate of shale that also contains a large Willow leaf. This is a very fine example of a very large Sycamore leaf from the Green River Formation.
