Large, Serrated Sycamore Leaf from Utah
Stock Number  FPUPW801
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 5.1 inches long

This is a very nice specimen of Macginitiea wyomingensis, a Sycamore leaf, from the Eocene of Utah. It is difficult to obtain Macginitiea leaves that are as distinct as this specimen. This leaf is complete with all five lobes present. The venation on this specimen is very strongly pronounced, and the serrated borders are very easily seen. A long, stout petiole is attached to the leaf. The leaf has good color and contrast and is well centered on a squared block of shale. And just to give it some character, the leaf is torn - it was possibly ripped by the pressure and stress of fossilization!. This is a very unique example of a fossil Sycamore leaf.
