Very Unusual Quercus Oak Leaf from Colorado
Stock Number  FPCOL70
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Quercus cuneatus
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Douglas Pass, Colorado
Size:  Leaf is 1.2 inches long

This is a very nice specimen of Quercus cuneatus, an Oak, from the Eocene of Colorado. Oak leaves are not common from this formation. The main venation of the leaf is quite noticeable. The margins of the leaf are beautifully serrated and very distinct. A long petiole is attached to the leaf. The specimen has great color and contrast and is well centered on the semi-rectangular plate of matrix. This is a very fine example of a fossil Oak leaf from the Green River Formation.
