Colorful, Orange-Brown Slice of Petrified Wood
Stock Number  FPPW49
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Araucaria Wood
Age:  Triassic
Formation:  Petrified Forest
Location:  Madagascar
Size:  Slice of wood is 4 inches across

Here is a very nice petrified wood round. This is Araucaria sp. from the Triassic of Madagascar. Araucaria is closely related to the modern-day monkey-puzzle tree. It is very easily seen that this is a cross-section of a large limb from the tree. The bark on the outside of the round is still quite evident. The slice of petrified wood has been highly polished, and the orange-brown coloration is totally natural and quite beautiful. This is a very fine example of petrified wood from the Triassic.
