Nice, Colorful Fern in Concretion from Mazon Creek

This is a very nice fossil seed fern from the famous Mazon Creek area of Illinois. The plant is preserved in a siderite concretion. Both halves of the concretion (part and counterpart) are present. This specimen exhibits extraordinary detail. Under magnification, one can easily see the detail of the individual leaflets. The beautiful color and contrast of the fossil is totally natural. No paint or coloring has been added to the specimen. This is a very displayable seed fern fossilized in a concretion.
