Name:
Mimosites coloradensis
Age: Eocene
Formation: Green River Formation
Location: Bonanza, Utah
Size: Plate is 3.4 inches tall
This is a fine example of Mimosites coloradensis from the Green River Shale of Utah. There are many leaves preserved - it is extremely uncommon to find multiple specimens of Mimosites leaves still together. The lance-shaped leaves are well defined - the primary venation of the leaves is easily seen. The fossils have very nice color and contrast and are well presented on the natural plate of shale that also contains a larger leaf. This is an excellent specimen of many Mimosites leaves from Utah.
