Here is a fabulous specimen of a fossil Calamites Trunk from the famous Tonganoxie Sandstone of Kansas. This 3-D specimen has very good color and contrast. The fossil is fully free of matrix and displays very fine detail. This specimen was recently acquired from an old collection - the specimen was collected in the 1970s and mounted on a wood display. This site has been closed to collecting for a number of years. This is a very collectible Horsetail specimen of Calamites from the Pennsylvanian of Kansas.
