Fossil Fern Frond, Bark
Age: Pennsylvanian
Formation: Llewellyn Formation
Location: Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size: Plate is 8.5 inches diagonal
This is a fabulous pair of fossil plants from the now-closed location near St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The fossils are preserved as a thin film of yellow-white pyrophyllite on black shale. The detail of the fern frond is quite nice, and the bark is also beautifully displayed on the large plate of shale. This is a very fine example of different plant fossils from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania.
