This is a very nice plant fossil. It is a striking plate of fossil fern fronds from Pennsylvania. This specimen is replaced with the mineral Pyrophyllite, which gives the fossil its stunning white color. The ferns have great detail and contrast beautifully with the black matrix plate. And there is even a large grouping of rare Sphenophyllum flowers on the plate. This is a very cool assortment of fossil plants from the Coal Age.
