Name:
Leguminosites lesquereuxiana Leaf
Age: Eocene
Formation: Green River Formation
Location: Bonanza, Utah
Size: Leaf is 1.6 inches long
This is an excellent fossil leaf. It is a beautiful Leguminosites lesquereuxiana (Legume) leaf from the Green River Formation of Utah. This leaf is amazingly complete - even the dimpled, emarginate tip that is typical of the species is present. The rounded margins of the leaf are easily seen, and a short, complete petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The natural, dark-brown color of the leaf contrasts strikingly with the lighter-colored matrix. And, best of all, this is a split pair fossil - both part and counterpart of the leaf are present, and both halves are included here! This is a very uncommon split pair Legume leaf from Utah.
