Name:
Fossil Fern Frond
Age: Pennsylvanian
Formation: Llewellyn Formation
Location: Near St. Clair, Pennsylvania
Size: Plate is 6.5 inches long
This is a fabulous fossil plant from the now-closed location near St. Clair, Pennsylvania. The fossil is preserved as a thin film of white pyrophyllite on black shale. The detail of this fossil is quite nice, and the plant is nicely displayed on the large plate of shale. There are also nice ferns fossilized on the back side of the plate. This is a very fine example of a fossil fern frond from the Coal Regions of Pennsylvania.
