EXTINCTIONS CHOICE - Split Pair Balloon Vine Leaf
Stock Number  FPUBV304
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Cardiospermum coloradensis (Balloon Vine Leaf)
Age:  Eocene
Formation:  Green River Formation
Location:  Bonanza, Utah
Size:  Leaf is 1.2 inches long

This is an excellent fossil leaf. It is a beautiful Cardiospermum coloradensis, a Balloon Vine leaf, from the Green River Formation of Utah. This leaf is amazingly complete - all of the lobes of the leaf are present and wonderfully displayed. The venation is clearly defined, and a long petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The natural, dark-brown color of the leaf contrasts strikingly with the lighter-colored matrix. And, best of all, this is a split pair fossil - both part and counterpart of the leaf are present! This is a very collectible split pair Balloon Vine leaf from Utah.
